Hastur Bone Demon

This guy was inspired from some table top gaming my pal Gab runs.

In the world he created one of the gods seeking to destroy/corrupt is called Hastur, and he (it?) is best known for spreading madness. One of the ways he does this is by making yellow hallucinogenic mushrooms grow everywhere. People can get addicted and go mad and eventually become consumed by Hastur's taint and turn into a destructive monster known as a Bone Demon.

Sky Stalker


So this guys been a long time coming. I started last semester and have been chipping away at it for some time now. Although it still has a long way to go I'm going to call it done for now. The end of fourth semester means I need to put a portfolio together and other things will be needing my attention! 

Also a big shout out to Rich Lauzon and Alan Stewart who gave me some amazing feedback and encouragement!

Bug Creature!





Things I was trying to push with this guys Design:

-Big Shape vs Small shape contrast (1 entail big shape)
- Change in form direction and Thickness.
-Taper, Taper and TAPER!

I also tried showing how this creature would attack in a 123 sequence if he were in a video game. I simplified the gestures to make the staging more clear. Ideally I'll get some feedback and repost this guy in the future because somethings still urking me about him.

Update!


I had a friend point out that the arm/leg/mandible shapes were all roughly the same size and he suggest I push the mandibles for a more effective design. I think it worked!

I don't have enough time to render this one right now so I decided to just throw some highlights as if the light was coming from above. Because of the sun/indoor lights are always above us our brains are hardwired to see form easily when they are top lit.

I'm happy to say that the effect produced a much more 3 dimensional feel!

Frog Samuria

Talking a break from animation stuff so I decided to go with a random design theme.


I kept these guy's pretty loose. Started with black and white Silhouette then threw some white lines over them quickly. I like the first 2, but the one with the bow not so much.
